Lightwave Logic announced an update on its preliminary performance evaluation of Perkinamine class materials. The tests supported their previous test results and appeared promising. The company is currently engaged in extensive internal and independent testing and recently strengthened its internal testing protocols to create a more comprehensive testing programme. Its most recent performance evaluation test includes the r33 Teng-Man testing protocol among other tests. The company said that if they succeed in their preliminary evaluations through independent testing they could be the first to create the electro-optic polymer material platform that can support a broad range of applications. In addition, it is closely working with three separate universities for determining both material characterisation and performance of Perkinamine for specific applications.  It is also interested in strategic partnerships and material development contracts to meet specific customer application needs. The company said in its press release, “We have developed and we are continuing to develop, electro-optic polymers within our patent pending molecular architectures which we believe have a broad range of applications in military, aerospace, fibre-optic telecommunications and optical computing market segments.”Jim Marcelli, CEO, said: Independent market research reports project that the organic electro-optical materials market will cross $10.5 billion by 2011, and that the market segment for telecommunication non-linear electro-optic materials alone is projected to reach $1 billion by 2015.
