LifeSize revamps bridging portfolio for virtualised multiparty support

Supports everything from scheduled video calls with several participants to on-demand mobile video calling

By CBR Staff Writer

High definition video conferencing products manufacturer LifeSize, a division of Logitech has introduced two new bridging applications, UVC Multipoint and Bridge, to provide virtualised multiparty support.

With the new bridging applications, LifeSize is improving bridging capabilities to support everything from scheduled video calls with several participants to on-demand mobile video calling.

LifeSize UVC Multipoint is a fully virtualised, standards-based multiparty video calling application for on-demand meetings.

The software-based MCU will help bridge calls to remain intact, even if there is a system failure, and it provides one administrative interface, one dial plan and is enabled with a license key, said the company.

UVC Multipoint will offer resources to the employees to make an on-demand multiparty call whenever they need to.

LifeSize Bridge is now available in lower entry-level capacities including 8 and 12 ports, with a 4-port upgrade option. It is optimised for users who want to make a smaller initial investment and scale.

LifeSize Video Solutions vice president and general manager Michael Helmbrecht said the vision behind the LifeSize UVC Platform is to change the way businesses deploy video infrastructure by consolidating multiple applications on a single, virtualised interface.

"This new offering addresses the needs of the massive BYOD movement whereby the power driving new technologies has shifted from the corporation to employees themselves," Helmbrecht said.

"We’re addressing both employee and company needs, by offering multiparty video collaboration that is simple to use, manage, and scale with unmatched price performance."
