Life Sciences International Inc, Philadelphia has developed a software bridge, the first of its kind, between Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Gensym Corp’s G2 real-time expert system and the POMS Process Operations Management System manufacturing execution system software from Incode Corp. The bridge, together with Life’s new G2-based intelligent simulator and process design tool, are aimed at the pharmaceutical and other batch processing industries. Life, a division of the D&Z Inc subsidiary of Day & Zimmerman Inc, is also developing a G-2-based tool for intelligent simulation and process design. An intelligent computer-aided design package will be at its heart, generating process flow diagrams as well as process and instrument diagrams and the package will also offer a non-destructive mechanism to explore process development, design and a technical what if analysis.
