LG Electronics develops new digital technology

LG Electronics is to use Conexant Systems' CX24126 satellite set-top box DVB-S2 demodulator and CX24118 advanced modulation 8PSK tuner in its newest high-definition television receiver, the world's first set-top box based on DVB-S2, the industry's newest digital video broadcast standard.

By CBR Staff Writer

DVB-S2 leverages key developments in channel coding and modulation to provide up to a 35% capacity increase over the previous DVB-S standard.

Jeff Crosby, vice president and general manager of Conexant’s Broadband Media Processing business said, Chips based on advanced modulation, coding and compression technologies are critical to completing the transition to new digital television services. This is a key area of focus for Conexant, and we will continue to develop innovative, cost-effective chips for this growing market segment.

Conexant was keen to emphasize its part in raising the standard of digital technology with the arrival of this advanced high-definition-based set-top box on to the market.
