LG follows Samsung into mobile payments with LG Pay

News: The smartphone ecosystem battle has a new entrant.

By Alexander Sword

LG will be launching its own mobile payment solution, LG Pay, bringing it into competition with Samsung and Apple.

Although LG did not share details of the service or when it will launch, the South Korean electronics maker revealed that it partnered with Shinhan Card and KB Koomin Card for the technology.

LG phones run on the Android operating system, which has its own payment solution Android Pay now available in the US. LG’s solution would presumably only be present on LG devices.

Samsung, like LG, has built a mobile payments solution specifically for its own hardware portfolio.
