Lexington, Kentucky-based Lexmark International Inc, formerly IBM Corp’s printer division, has introduced two 24-wire models of the IBM Personal Printer Series II family of dot matrix printers: the PPS II printers range from $500 for narrow-carriage to $700 for wide-carriage models, and all carry a two-year limited warranty; as with the 9-wire models, the 24-wire machines are built to handle multi-part forms printing; the PPS II family of dot matrix printers are jointly developed by Lexmark and IBM Japan, and they are said to offer a virtually straight paper path; handling forms; there is a choice of five different paper feeds, a switchable tractor, a paper parking function and exceptional paper handling for multi-part forms of up to four parts for the 24-wire model and up to six parts for the nine-wire model; they support an optional cut sheet feeder and can switch from auto sheet feed to continuous forms printing; a panel features one-touch selection of fonts and pitches, they have font and pitch lock capabilities as well as a panel disable mode that controls access to printer settings; the Models 2380 and 2390 are available from Lexmark dealers, Campus Technology Centers and from IBM’s sales force – all charging different prices.
