Lex is investing in a new online fleet manager reporting system.
Lex has implemented a new system called Interactive Fleet Manager (IFM), which went live at the end of June. The new tool gives customers a 24-hour, 365 days a year access to their detailed fleet information via a secure Internet connection.
Lex has invested GBP1 million in the project and believes that IFM places them considerably ahead of other leasing suppliers in the UK. The system is the only one of its kind in the UK, giving fleet managers the ability to interactively manage their vehicles in real time over the web.
The new system will provide a variety of functions to Lex Vehicle Leasing’s customers, including viewing invoices, monitoring vehicle maintenance histories, allocating vehicles to drivers and cost centers, all in real time. IFM offers a total HR package that allows customers to manage driver details, taxable benefits and rental contributions online – P11D and P46 reports can be printed automatically, in the Inland Revenue approved format with the click of a mouse.
Lex Vehicle Leasing is hoping that this new system will allow it to expand its position in the market. Currently Lex Vehicle Leasing is third in the UK contract hire market, and will be hoping that this advanced and unique system will attract more customers in the long-term.
eCommerce is still to make as much of an impact on the leasing market as it has done in other sectors of the automotive market. Many companies across Europe have begun to implement less sophisticated versions of the IFM system but on a smaller scale. ‘Car configurators’ are already common with many European lessors. eCommerce has great potential in the leasing market, and it is good to see companies beginning to utilize that potential.
