Lenovo has signed an agreement with Wyse to extend both companies’ product portfolios to reach customers in the thin mobile client market worldwide. The companies said that Wyse will add its expertise in thin client operating system optimisation, management and virtualisation software to Lenovo mobile clients models.

According to the companies, the new mobile thin client products are based on select Lenovo ThinkPad laptops. Wyse’s thin computing software includes Wyse Device Manager, an asset, configuration management, diagnostics and firmware update for thin clients.

Wyse TCX virtualisation software reportedly delivers an enhanced user experience for clients connected to Microsoft Windows Terminal Services, Citrix Application Delivery and VMware VDI.

Lenovo said that the agreement extends its alternative client computing portfolio which includes the Lenovo Secure Managed Client and thin client products from Wyse, to offer customers a range of products to fit their business needs.

Peter Schrady, vice president of enterprise, software and peripherals at Lenovo, said: Adding Lenovo ThinkPad laptops to Wyse’s thin computing portfolio gives customers a complete technology solution all in one place. Customers in large organisations will benefit from combining Wyse thin computing software expertise with Lenovo’s expertise in providing high levels of computing performance while lowering the total cost of ownership.
