The ThinkPad T60 enables connectivity to Cingular’s BroadbandConnect service in more than 70 US markets. Cingular plans to make its service available in the majority of major US metro areas by the end of the year. Overseas, T60 users can wireless connect to EDGE or GPRS data services in more than 100 countries, according to Lenovo.

Cingular claims its EDGE network has an average download data of 135 kilobits per second.

Lenovo, the Chinese company that purchased IBM’s PC business, said T60 customers can activate Cingular’s broadband service directly from Lenovo, yet will be billed monthly by Cingular, starting at $59.99 for unlimited service in a two-year contract and a qualified voice contract.
