Lenovo is adding a new laptop to its ThinkPad line of notebooks, designed keeping in mind its ultra-light X300 laptop.

The 14-inch widescreen notebook comes with a carbon-reinforced fibre roll cage to protect the parts of the notebook and weighs less than four pounds.

According to Lenovo, the new notebook comes with the options of Intel 2.4GHz or 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo processors and128 GB of solid-state storage or 250GB of hard drive storage. It is equipped with six-cell battery which provides up to six hours of backup and 34mm Express Card slot or 5-in-1 multimedia card reader.

The company said that the new model is equipped with a DVD burner or Blu-ray player and supports up to two monitors through a display port and VGA connector.The Escape and Delete keys have been made bigger and the space between the keys were minimised.

Other features include Ethernet, Wi-Fi and optional WiMAX3, WWAN and Bluetooth options
