Lenovo has launched the ThinkPad X131e Chromebook for school administrators, students and teachers, with quick access to apps, education resources and storage.

The ThinkPad offers educators options for software and security management.

The 11.6inch laptop comes with an Intel processor, a 1366×768 HD LED anti-glare screen, three USB ports, a HDMI port and a VGA port.

ThinkPad Product Group executive director of product marketing, Jerry Paradise, said the ThinkPad X131e has proven to be very successful in education environments.

"With the rugged features we added to the X131e, we’ve seen reduced failure rates in the field," Paradise said.

The laptop comes with a rubber bumper around the top cover to protect the system in case of an accidental drop.

Google Chrome OS director of product management Caesar Sengupta said: "Chromebooks are in use today by more than one-thousand K-12 schools, and they make an ideal one-to-one device because they’re more cost effective and easier to manage and maintain than traditional laptops or tablets."

The device features comes with Chrome’s Web Store, a low-light webcam, and Wi-Fi connectivity.
