Lenovo launches new laptops for SMBs, students

Offer optional fingerprint readers for secure log-in versus using passwords

Lenovo has launched ThinkPad Edge E320 and E325 laptops as well as the ThinkPad X121e laptop for small-to-medium businesses (SMB) and, students and mobile professionals in large corporations, respectively.

The new ThinkPad Edge laptops feature a 13% thinner frame, second generation Intel Core or AMD Fusion processors, spill-resistant, island-style keyboard and weigh 1.63 kg.

They come in soft matte finishes in heatwave red or midnight black in addition to glossy versions of both colors, while offering anti-glare or glossy displays.

Lenovo claims, users can open PowerPoint files, load browsers and websites and transfer multimedia files faster.

AMD Radeon discrete switchable graphics with 1GB of VRAM are also available on the ThinkPad Edge E320 laptop for a premium visual experience.

The ThinkPad X121e entry laptop comes with Intel Core or AMD VisionPro processors, business-class versions of the Windows 7 operating system and a host of security layers including Intel anti-theft technology, self-encrypting USB and solid state drives, Hardware Password Manager and Rescue and Recovery.

Both the ThinkPad X121e and ThinkPad Edge laptops offer optional fingerprint readers for secure log-in versus using passwords.
The laptops are equipped with a range of connectivity options including mobile broadband, WiFi, Bluetooth and Gigabit Ethernet.

To play multimedia on the big screen, they include HDMI out and also include a host of USB ports and slots for connecting to other devices.

The laptops are equipped with advanced tools including a low light web camera, noise suppressing keyboard, microphone and mute keys, and the ThinkVantage Communications Utility 2.0 for holding conference calls.

Also, to manage wireless connections while mobile, users can close the laptop lid, and the PC will hold the wireless connection for several seconds.
