Legent Corp has paid $17.85m for an undisclosed stake in Beaverton, Oregon-based Central Point Software Incm and John Burton, president and chief executive of Legent joins the board. Legent, Reston, Virginia sees the investment in the developer of utilities for MS-DOS, Windows and Macintosh System and major servers as an important step in its expanding role in providing systems that support the entire enterprise. Central Point says that it plans to use the cash put up by Legent for strategic acquisition of complementary products, technologies and businesses and for working capital.
