Legend Holdings Ltd, best known as ChinaÆs top PC maker, has landed the biggest systems integration contract to be awarded in China for several years. The $24m World Bank-funded contract is with China State Tax Bureau and is to help automate the bureauÆs record keeping and administration processes. Using IBM mid-range computers, networking and system software, Cisco networking devices and other peripheral equipment, Legend will construct a computerized taxation network for the bureau. The network, which is scheduled for completion by the end of next year, will cover 19 major Chinese cities and serve as a model system for future networks to be deployed by other agencies.
