Vmark Software Inc’s European operation has revealed the first major customer for Datastage, its client-server datamart and data warehouse building tool (CI No 3,048) is English Channel tunnel rail operator Le Shuttle. Datastage is an integrated tool which offers all elements of building a warehouse, including data extraction, cleansing, integration, transformation and population. Le Shuttle will use the software, designed to virtually eliminate the risk of human error, for its ticket sales operation, to monitor sales and provide information to the marketing team. The product enables users to easily build data marts and data warehouses using a direct visual model. It runs on Windows NT and has a simple drag-and-drop front end. The company is specifically targeting the financial, retail, manufacturing and healthcare sectors. DataStage is available now, and costs 35,000 pounds for a fully configured single user unit.
