layerX Technologies, a provider of unified network management products, has released PUNQ, a new information technology (IT) search tool.

layerX said that PUNQ is a desktop application that allows IT managers to collect, analyse, search and store IT events gathered from the network infrastructure including system logs, SNMP traps, network probe information and more.

Acording to layerX, PUNQ has an integrated ‘Google-like’ search interface that enables IT managers to search through millions of network events to identify the relevant IT events and troubleshoot network problems. IT managers can also use PUNQ to upload historical data to further analyse IT event trends.

The company said that PUNQ is available either as a standalone tool or as an embedded capability in layerX’s comprehensive unified management offering, Arbitrator. Arbitrator unifies disparate management functions into a single environment, thereby, reducing the cost of integrating and managing networks.

Mike Kay, vice president of business development at layerX, said: “On any given day, an enterprise network will experience millions of network events throughout their network. IT search is the first critical step in providing quick visibility into event data. With PUNQ , IT managers now have the power to quickly analyse millions of events without having to deploy costly IT search tools.”
