Minneapolis, Minnesota-based Lawson says it has upgraded its Lawson 9 suite to run on IBM’s all in one System i server, storage and software system.

Specifically Lawson 9 now supports i5/OS Version 5 Release 3 (V5R3) and i5/OS Version 5 Release 4 (V5R4), which is latest version of the IBM integrated operating system.

Lawson’s software is also optimized for IBM middleware including WebSphere Application Server ND.

Lawson is offering its existing System i customers upgrade and migration services programs. The company says it has thousands of customers running on System i today.

System i promises to reduce the downstream complexity and maintenance costs associated with IT servers such as downtime, security and patches.

The move continues a long history of Lawson’s support for IBM’s server platforms. Lawson 9, which includes ERP and business intelligence applications, was released in November 2005 and also runs on IBM’s AIX platform.
