Based on WebSphere technology, the Lawson System Foundation represents Lawson’s SOA-based production and integration platform, and previously included WebSphere Application Server ND, Tivoli Directory Server, and the DB2 database as part of the Lawson S3 System Foundation. IBM WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus has now been added to the mix to provide services connectivity and messaging. The combination of Lawson’s Process Flow Integrator the Enterprise Service Bus is designed to make it easier for organizations to build and implement SOA applications, integrate with third-party applications, and automate business processes.
The 400 organizations who have licensed the S3 System Foundation will have access to the new capabilities for no extra cost. Organizations who license the newly announced M3 System Foundation will also have access to the newly bound in technology.
Lawson has also deepened its relationship with IBM in the managed and hosted sphere as it prepares for a SaaS deployment option model, using IBM’s infrastructure and services to support the Lawson Total Care Platinum service. Platinum adds a new tier to Lawson’s existing maintenance and support program.
The new tier provides a single price, contract and point of contact for all aspects of a managed, hosted service for Lawson software, with IBM providing the hosting capability through its data centers.
Lawson has also announced that it is planning a SaaS offering at some point in the future. While IBM will be the primary hosting provider, interestingly it looks like it will not be the sole provider.
