Lancaster, Pennsylvania-headquartered Laser Communications Inc has announced the S Class of wireless connections for 10Mbps and 4Mbps/16Mbps Token Ring links. The system is based on line-of-sight laser transmissions and functions at distances of up to 700 feet, said the company. It not require any licensing or right-of-way permits, and is compatible with all relevant international standards, said the firm. The system is aligned with a bar graph and tone lock procedure, and operates at full local area network speeds: it costs $7,500.
