Las Cruces Publishing Company Has Agreed to Purchase The Alamogordo Daily News and Otero Shopper

COMPANY PRESS RELEASE: MediaNews Group, Inc. announced today that its Las Cruces Publishing Company affiliate has agreed to purchase The Alamogordo Daily News and Otero Shopper, published in Alamogordo, New Mexico from Newspaper Holdings, Inc. The purchase is scheduled to close by March 30, 2001.

The Alamogordo Daily News, with daily circulation of 7,419 and Sunday circulation of 8,530 is the only daily newspaper published in Otero County.

The Daily News will be the sixth daily newspaper owned by MediaNews Group in New Mexico. The company owns dailies in Las Cruces (Las Cruces Sun-News), Silver City (Silver City Sun-News), Farmington (The Daily Times), Deming (The Deming Headlight) and Carlsbad (The Carlsbad Current-Argus).
