Months after the beta launch of Google’s ambitious social networking service, CEO Larry Page has surpassed Mark Zuckerberg as most followed Google+ user.
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg was once the most followed person on Google+, but Page has ousted Zuckerberg from the top spot, said Relaxnews.
It cited Next Web-created Google+ statistics counter, which said that Page is now just a few hundred followers short of 600,000, while Zuckerberg has around 599,000 followers.
In July, Zuckerberg had more than 21,000 followers, compared to Page’s 15,000 fans. It is rumoured that the Facebook founder is one of the earliest member of Google+.
Meanwhile, last month a Daily Mail report said that Page had not publicly posted on his profile in over a month. Similar reports sparking rumours that Google+ was not doing well. However, recently Page announced that people were flocking to the site, and the number of registered users had touched 40 million.
Google+ had opened up its services to public in September. The company has also said that it would allow pseudonyms for its users.
