LAPLAND DELIVERY IS NOT SHARP ENOUGH

By CBR Staff Writer

Good news for Hewlett-Packard Co, Psion Plc and the like, but very disappointing for Sharp Co, whose new PC3000 palmtop now looks set to miss all the pre-Christmas spending rush: a spokesman for Sharp in Belgium confirmed to Computergram that the system will not ship in Europe until mid-January because of problems in the production process of the first machines; this effectively leaves the way clear for, among others, the established HP 95LX with Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheet, and the Psion Series 3, seen in Belgium for the first time at shows this summer, and according to Antwerp distributor Micro Connection BV it is selling like hot cakes – should keep the share price up.
