The Lanier Worldwide Inc subsidiary of Harris Corp, of Melbourne, Florida tends to be a forgotten part of the Harris empire despite its size, but it has thrust itself into the headlines by announcing that it has bought Quorum Group Inc for 700,000 shares of Harris common valued at about $54m. Quorum, a diversified legal services company, will operate as Quorum/Lanier, managing litigation support information services and systems, document printing and legal personnel placement. It will come under Lanier Professional Services Inc, which provides facilities management services. All senior management will remain and all staff will be offered positions with the new firm. It is its sixth professional services acquisition in the past two years.
