In February, the first three modules of Oracle Financials were installed in the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan as part of a USAID- funded project that what Oracle Corp describes as the largest of its kind in Central Asia. The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan now has Oracle General Ledger, Oracle Payables and Oracle Alert. The other products from the Financials suite will be installed later. Meantime Oracle has opened an office in Tashkent to handle its Central Asian business. Director of Oracle Central Asia Chris Hammel says in the near future the company aims to provide native language support for products sold in Uzbekistan. Among Oracle’s customers in the region are the taxation committee of Uzbekistan, the Interior Ministries of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, and several state and commercial banks. Oracle revenues across the Commonwealth of Independent States in 1995 were $13m.
