KYOCERA HOPES TO ATTRACT GREEN LOBBY WITH NEW PRINTER

By CBR Staff Writer

Kyocera has produced the world’s first environmentally sensitive printer the Ecosys a-Si FS-1500A, which is compatible with the H-P LaserJet III, and is priced at $2395: you see laser printer cartridges cause a bit of a disposal problem and the new printer uses a permanent drum made of an amorphous silicon ceramic material that essentially never wears out; however, Kyocera is under no illusion that people will buy green from the goodness of their hearts and is emphasising a cost per page of 0.78 cents, versus about 3.5 cents for an H-P LaserJet – the three-year lifecycle cost of the printer is claimed to be better than $2,500 less than a comparable Hewlett.
