Japanese electronics company Kyocera has introduced ‘Digno Rafre’, world’s first soap-proof washable smartphone.
The Android 5.1 (Lollipop) powered phone has a 5-inch display, is 10.1 mm thick, features a 13-megapixel camera, and has 3,000mAh battery.
The smartphone, dubbed Digno Rafre, features a special touch screen that will work even when wet, withsmart sonic receivers preventing the speakers from being damaged during the washing process.
Though the phone can be washed, Kyocera has advised users to wash it with foam soap only.
The Digno Rafre will be available from mobile carrier KDDI for around $460 in Japan.
However, the phone is not likely to cross the borders as the company has no plans yet to sell the washable phone overseas, according to the Wall Street Journal who cited a spokeswoman at Kyocera.
Waterproof phones are common as most of the smartphone makers including Sony with its Xperia Z5, M5 and Z3, and Samsung with its S6 Active, S5, and Huawei with Honor 3, have introduced water resistant smartphones in the market.

However, the devices have their own limitations when it comes to getting dunked, as some phones can be submersed up to 30 minutes underwater at a depth of 1.5-meters, while others should not be dunked beyond 1 meters in water, like the Galaxy S5.
