Kubota Pacific Computer Inc says its manufacturing facility in Santa Clara, California is now fully operational: the plant will manufacture graphic supercomputer products for Kubota’s partner Stardent Computer Inc and has just begun shipment of products to customers: Kubota Pacific will continue the development of several products based on Stardent’s existing technology and has hired 90 people formerly employed by Stardent in Sunnyvale; it expects to hire an additional 50 to 100 engineers and manufacturing personnel within the next few weeks; it will handle the final assembly and testing for all Stardent products, and will support the development and conversion of third-party software for Stardent products, and will develop new products and technologies; Kubota will also pump over $50m more into Stardent, where it holds 28%, over the next two years, subject to the company meeting operating targets.
