A deal with a UK based consortium called Oakley Investors fell through after banks demanded that the consortium would have to pay E45 million to keep KPNQwest’s Ebone network running over the next two weeks. Reports suggest that Oakley were only prepared to pay E25 million to keep the network alive.

KPNQwest’s Ebone network has been teetering on the brink of closure for the last few weeks following the company’s bankruptcy in May.
