KPMG PEAT MARWICK DUMPS LOTUS NOTES SYSTEM FOR NETSCAPE

By CBR Staff Writer

Putting a slight damper on this week’s LotusSphere carnival is a deal recently inked between KPMG Peat Marwick LLP to replace its 17,000 Lotus UScc:mail clients with Netscape Communications Corp’s Communicator product. Moreover, the company’s systems integration arm has signed on as a Netscape integrator. KPMG has also purchased Netscape’s SuiteSpot, saying it aims to implement a full Netscape collaborative environment worldwide, though it has not yet purchased software for outside the US. A worldwide deal would mean another 59,000 seats.
