By CBR Staff Writer

Korean papers have reported a recent Electronic Industries Association of Korea study, which expects the country to slip to fifth place in the world ranking of leading electronics manufacturers. Total electronics output will be around $47.6bn this year, down around 10% on the previous year, pushing Korea into fifth place behind the US, Japan, Germany and China. China will overtake Korea if it meets estimates that it will produce electronics goods worth $49.3bn this year, up 18% from last year. The association expects the world’s electronics market to grow 3.7% this year, reaching $1.98 trillion in value, down from 5.4% growth last year.
