The Korea Semiconductor Industry Association (KSIA) said yesterday that total semiconductor exports will exceed $20bn this year, with DRAM exports leading the way in a 41.2% hike to $7.5bn. For the first 11 months of 1990, Korean chip exports are up 19% at $18.1bn, and total national production is expected to grow 21.8% to $21bn by year-end. The KSIA echoed wider analyst predictions that 2000 is set to be a bumper year for the global chip business, noting that total semiconductor production next year is forecast to grow 15.6% year-on-year to $177.2bn, with the DRAM business again pushing hardest and expected to grow 29.7% to $25.2bn.
