Want your snapshots digitised and stored on floppy disk? Konica Corp is offering a cut-price service to do the work in the US through Kmart Corp and nine other retail chains. Processing will cost $4 for 27 frames – and that includes the price of the floppy disk: Konica says that that is about a tenth the cost of a similar service provided by Eastman Kodak Co – but it is referring to Kodak’s Photo CD system, which uses compact disks rather than floppy disks, and produces higher-definition pictures for display on a personal computer screen. With Konica’s system, the photographs on floppy disk can be displayed on personal computers running under Windows and Mac OS, and the control software to enable users to enlarge and reduce photos and to turn pages is included on the disk .
