KONICA ANNOUNCES 6PPM A4 FULL COLOUR PRINTER …

By CBR Staff Writer

Konica Co has announced a 6ppm, A4 full-colour printer using copier technology, which it will sell OEM from later this year in what is claimed to be the first commercial production of a full-colour printer: Konica has a patent pending for the technology, which also incorporates an electro-photographic mode, and the company is so pleased with the thing that it is planning to set up its own distribution network for it in due course; currently according to the Nikkei Sangyou newspaper, approximately half of the low-function printers on offer have colour capability – the Tokyo Business Show last month saw a number of colour ink-jet printers on display; Konica is also working on the development of 5.25 magneto-optical disks, using a combination of magnetic floppy disk and optical technology.
