KOKUSAI DENSHIN DENWA READY TO SURRENDER IN RATE CUTTING WAR …

By CBR Staff Writer

Kokusai Denshin Denwa Co is ready to surrender in the rate-cutting war with the two new interntional carriers, International Digital Communications Ltd and Intermational Telecom Japan, saying that any further rate cuts will be counter-productive: the former monopoly international carrier has reduced rates twice in the last six months, in November and April, but its profits fell in the year to March for the first time in three years – but it will increase promotion of its international call interpreting service, after a 1.6 times increase in the volume of calls to around 7,000 calls; the translation service is managed by the company’s KDD Teleserve subsidiary, which was established in 1986.
