Kofax Provides EDCO With Distributed Capture Solution

To capture, extract and perfect data and images from patient medical records

By CBR Staff Writer

Kofax, a provider of Intelligent Capture and Exchange solutions, has signed a $350,000 contract with EDCO Group. EDCO would utilize Kofax software to automate the processing of millions of patient medical records for hospital and health clinic customers.

The solution supports Electronic Medical Record (EMR) implementations, and processes medical records without the use of barcodes. It therefore reduces staffing costs and improves operational efficiency for clients, said the company.

Alan Kerr, Executive Vice President of Field Operations at Kofax, said, Healthcare is a document-heavy, data-sensitive industry, and BPOs need solutions to help clients reduce paper burdens, drive down business costs, meet privacy requirements and leverage EMR incentives under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Automating high-volume, paper-intensive medical record processing improves productivity and generates quicker ROIs for both BPO providers and their clients, thus enabling healthcare organizations to focus on enhancing patient care quality and efficiency.
