KODE COMPUTERS LTD RELAUNCHES ITSELF

By CBR Staff Writer

Further to the disposal of its computer and peripherals distribution arm earlier this year (CI No 1,379), Kode Computers Ltd claims to have relaunched itself as a service company. It is now focusing on maintenance, project management, data recovery, systems integration, rental and leasing, and training. The company says that it will not be concentrating on equipment from any particular supplier, but will specialise on mid-range and minis, and on companies that operate within certain environments like Unix, VMS, MS-DOS, and personal computer networks. Kode offers a range of maintenance options including on-site maintenance for installations that require immediate service, down to a 16-hour response time, five or seven days a week. Kode has signed a number of maintenance deals with several manufacturers including IBM, ICL and Siemens. The company has a Winchester disk repair facility claimed to be one of the highest specification clean rooms in the UK, certified to Class 10 conditions. Kode can repair and refurbish a gamut of disk drives from 14 to 3.5 devices. The company is also involved in leasing and rental, and says that a number of clients lease equipment during periods of development or at times of high demand. Engineering support covers site surveys, pre-delivery inspections, capacity planning, configuration, installation or relocation, cabling and equipment audits. The company’s training division offers courses on hardware, applications software and operating systems. This division operates either from the company’s training centre in Swindon, or at the customer’s premises. Kode is forecasting that 30% of revenue will come from service activities other than maintenance by the year-end.
