Eastman Kodak Co claims to be the world’s largest manufacturer of recordable compact disks, and one beneficiary of its success is Ireland, where the company this week opened Kodak Cork Ltd in Youghal, County Cork as part of a $140m expansion of capacity for the disks which will also see its Guadalajara plant being extended. It also makes the disks back at base in Rochester, New York, and reckons it will be making 18 million disks a month by the end of 1998. Kodak Cork currently has 260 employees but expects to grow that to 650 people by late 1998.
