Eastman Kodak has said that it agreed to sell its online photo services business to Shutterfly for $23.8m.

Shutterfly, based in Redwood City, California, too offers photo-related services and products which include prints and galleries.

The company said it will transfer accounts of Kodak Gallery’s 75 million users in the US and Canada to Shutterfly under the agreement.

Kodak Gallery enables users to upload photos, organise galleries, order prints or photobooks and share pictures.

Kodak president of consumer businesses and chief marketing officer Pradeep Jotwani said this sale was consistent with its objective of focusing Kodak on a core set of businesses.

The company stated that it will give customers who don’t want their photos transferred the opportunity to opt out.

Eastman Kodak has been in the news lately, as it filed for bankruptcy in January.

It also announced that it would sell off its camera business to get out of the woods.
