Trying desperately to draw more attention to the launch of the Macintosh PowerBook, Apple Computer Inc’s UK subsidiary has commissioned three national designers to add their fashion interpretations to the system’s styling: Rifat Ozbeck, Betty Jackson and Workers for Freedom have created one-off external cases for the PowerBook which are supposed to reflect the key themes of their spring and summer 1992 collections; Jackson has the PowerBook kinkily cased in black leather and signed; Ozbeck has gone for the cavalry brown leather case with bone applique and metal design, finished off with burgundy suede edging and tassels; and Workers for Freedom has put together a plethora of blue feathers, thistles, cardoons (what?) and poppy seed heads on a wooden trellis styled bag!
