Kingston City Council, which administers essential government services to thousands of residents and businesses in the region, has selected a design based on a mirrored SAN (storage area network) in production replicated to a DR SAN (disaster recovery storage area network). If one of the SANs fails in production, the new design automatically switches to the mirror and restores once the service is available again. The lower lag-time between the mirrors will ensure the availability of current version of data.
Kingston City Council had already contracted Lincom Solutions to deploy VMware and consolidate servers, centralize management and to provide hardware independence for their servers. DataCore disaster recovery environment will integrate into Kingston’s VMware virtual server environment.
