Scientific Software Intercomp’s Kinesix division, based in Houston, Texas, has launched a graphical user interface development environment based on the Open Software Foundation’s OSF/Motif. It is called Sammi, and Kinesix is releasing an application programming interface – API – for Sammi into the public domain. The interface will enable developers to build gateways from Sammi to databases such as Oracle, Ingres and Sybase. It runs on Sun Microsystems, IBM, DEC and Hewlett Packard/Apollo Unix workstations and prices go from $12,500 to $25,000 depending on configuration.
