Kabel Deutschland, a German cable network operator and triple play provider, has selected NDS, a provider of technology services for digital pay-TV, as service provider to enhance its digital TV platform.

NDS said that its technologies will enable Kabel Deutschland (KDG) to introduce new, compelling services for the development of its digital TV business. The NDS end-to-end service for KDG will support both standard and high definition digital TV services as well as enabling future enhancements to help KDG deliver a viewing experience to its subscribers now and in the future.

Lorenz Glatz, chief technology officer at KDG, said: For the development of our digital TV operations and the introduction of new entertainment services, we selected a technology provider that delivers an advanced end-to-end solution, including future-looking enabling technologies. NDS’s technology portfolio and expertise fulfils our long list of requirements. We welcome NDS as our technology partner and look forward to bringing a truly exciting entertainment offering to our subscribers.

Yves Padrines, vice president of business development at NDS and general manager NDS Germany, said: KDG’s decision to work with NDS is a real honour, and we are thrilled to be able to support Germany’s largest cable operator as it develops its digital TV business. This announcement takes NDS’s position in Germany to a whole new level and is a strong endorsement for our securing, enabling and interactive technologies.
