Kaviza has introduced VDI-in-a-box 3.0 with Citrix HDX, an offering which the company says provides high-definition virtual desktops with high-availability and on-demand scaling for less than the cost of PCs.

The company claims that the Version 3.0 combines affordability and ease-of-use with the rich user experience of Citrix HDX technology to deliver virtual desktops for value.

According to Kaviza, VDI-in-a-box software is designed specifically for SMEs to fit departmental budgets and desktop IT expertise using a plug-and-play architecture that scales on commodity servers without requiring shared storage and provides built-in high-availability.

In addition, Kaviza enables the desktop IT staff to deploy VDI or hosted virtual desktops without any specialised IT expertise including software, servers, storage and support.

Further, Kaviza along with its partners has launched the KPSN Frictionless Virtual Desktops initiative, designed to help simplify the process of evaluating and adopting virtual desktops.

Kumar Goswami, CEO of Kaviza, said: "With Version 3.0, we have a solution that is less expensive to setup, easier to deploy, and less expensive to manage without compromising the end-user experience and core features such as high-availability and on-demand scaling."

The company said that the VDI-in-a-box 3.0 release features an add-on to enable high-definition Citrix HDX technology, enhancing the overall virtual desktop experience for end users.
