Computer components worth $150,000 that had been purchased by Kami Corp, based in Moscow, were stolen at the Moscow Sheremetievo customs in January, 1994. Kami has now recovered about half of the stolen equipment. Its people bought personal computers from rival companies and has now put together a list of those companies that are said to have sold the stolen parts. The company has started legal proceedings. This year Kami is to start assembling Acer Inc computers in Moscow. This will be accompanied by a price cut which will enable Kami to get its prices into line with Compulink and Lamport (formerly Steepler). Kami is also planning to increase its orders from Acer and DTK (both of Taiwan) by 50% in a bid to cut its retail prices.
