Kalamazoo Computer Group Plc has depleted its fighting fund for acquisitions still further with the purchase by its CBA/Nederland division of the 80-strong customer base of the Dutch MAI company formerly part of MAI Systems Corp. The terms of the deal were not disclosed. MAI supplies dealer management systems to the motor industry in the Netherlands and will further strengthen CBA/Nederland’s strong position there. Kalamazoo plans to increase its profits this year through strategic acquisitions, and had set aside ú20m for this purpose, although this represents a low-risk purchase for the Dutch division. Chairman Peter Harrop had previously expressed his desire for high-risk acquisitions (CI No 2,428), and the Birmingham-based group has already bought WIS Computer Systems (CI No 2,548) and GMS Tickets (CI No 2,575) this fiscal.
