Kace releases new application virtualisation capabilities

Claims to offer less expensive alternative for creating, deploying and managing virtual applications

By CBR Staff Writer

Kace, the systems management appliance company, has released the new version of its application virtualisation technology, which it claims to provide users with a less expensive alternative for creating, deploying and managing virtual applications.

According to Kace, the new Virtual Kontainers 2.0 includes, improvements in the areas of application compatibility and support for updating and patching virtual applications. With the ability to publish applications through self-service user portal, the new version reduces administrative overhead.

According to Kace, the new version also features: improved application compatibility by way of a new signature update service; the ability to update, patch or modify an existing virtual application package directly, without the need to start over with each required change; and command line support for administrators that prefer to script operations themselves.

Marty Kacin, co-founder and CTO of Kace, said: “Application virtualisation is an important and powerful emerging technology that unfortunately has a lot of misconceptions surrounding it, such as that it is expensive and complex to implement and maintain. Kace Virtual Kontainers turns these misconceptions on their head through an extremely easy-to-use solution that is simple to deploy and offered at a low cost.
