The RelevantKnowledge Inc list of top domains and properties for July finds that Yahoo, AOL, Microsoft, Netscape and Excite have maintained their relative positions since June, as indeed have the rest of the top ten, which, if you must know, are GeoCities, Infoseek, Lycos, MSN and Altavista. In fact readers have to ploW down as far as number eleven, where Hotmail has nipped ahead of Tripod, before they find an upset. AOL, Microsoft, Netscape, GeoCities, Infoseek, Lycos, MSN and AltaVista have increased their reach by 0.5 to 3.6% each, while Yahoo and Excite are very slightly down. Clearly, it would be absurd to read anything into figures so marginal. Why, then, is the company bringing us these reports every month?
