Very little survives of the Apple Computer Inc suit against Microsoft Corp and Hewlett-Packard Co alleging copyright infringement of the Macintosh user interface in Windows and NewWave. Judge Vaughn Walker in San Francisco reaffirmed his earlier decision in which he had dismissed most of the remaining elements in the suit. His ruling removed from the case nearly all of the NewWave features that had been in dispute, and he was due to hold a conference call after we closed yesterday with attorneys for the three companies to discuss how to resolve remaining issues in the case. Saying that it was disappointed at the decision, Apple added that we never based our business on this decision. It’s nothing more than status quo for the industry.
