US District Court Judge Lucy Koh who is reviewing the long running patent trial between Apple and Samsung Electronics made a final plea for global peace between the two firms.
The judge is currently reviewing a jury’s decision which awarded Apple $1.05bn in damages against Samsung in August this year.
Koh was quoted by the Financial Times as saying that "When is this case going to resolve?"
"I think it’s time for global peace. If there is any way this court can facilitate some sort of resolution, I’d like to do that. I think it would be good for consumers and good for the industry," Koh said.
Samsung is seeking to overturn the previous verdict while Apple, which had initially demanded over $2.5bn in damages, is planning to add $500m more to the award and ask jury to ban the sale of over 20 Samsung devices in the US.
Both the companies are escalating their patent battle frequently by claiming that each company infringed some of their products.
In November this year, Samsung had claimed that the iPhone maker’s new iPad mini infringes its eight patented technologies.
In response to Samsung’s claim, Apple had also claimed that six more Samsung products infringe its patents.
Recently, a new report found that Samsung had overtaken iPhone maker Apple in its domestic bastion becoming the top handset manufacturer with an overall 26.3% market share.
