Fremont, California-based Jovian Logic Corp has announced QuickVIA/Audio, which combines the video features from the Jovian QuickVIA capture board and the audio features from the Microsoft Sound System board. It captures single frame or motion video from any NTSC or PAL video source from either S-video or Composite video, providing four different capture and display window resolutions. It is compatible with any VGA display adaptor and does not require a feature connector. The video local frame buffer is designed to be accessed by the host CPU with no wait state. It captures CD quality stereo sound in 8- or 16-bit and up to 44.1KHz from any audio source and also provides OPL3 FM synthesiser feature for Sound Blaster game compatible and MIDI sound file output to a speaker. It costs $400 and comes bundled with Microsoft’s Video for Windows, Xing’s Picture Prowler Photo Database software, Sound Impression for Audio editing and Jovian Digital TV software for Windows and MS-DOS to preview and capture video images and save them to different file formats. Drivers for Windows Multimedia are also included.
